The End.

Hey, anyone seen the Westender this week? Who is that schnook? Well, that interview and gorgeous photo took place last Wednesday, five days before the locks were changed on our doors. If there were ever a more fitting example of how fast things can change...

So, we really are closed. And that's it. There is a long and winding story about how we arrived at this point, but the shortest version is we thought be were positively working with our current landlord to leave our lease and find a smaller more affordable location, only to have the carpet pulled out from under us. We really did believe the agreement to let us out of the lease once a new tenant was found was made in good faith. What the landlord did was totally in their right, as it is all business for them (though having the right to do so and being the right thing to do may vary). We told you not to panic, because while we really needed to move, we thought we had made an agreement to make that happen. As Don Vito Corleone said to his youngest in The Godfather, "There wasn't enough time, Michael. There just wasn't enough time."

So we're done. And it's heartbreaking. It really is. On behalf of the owners and staff, both former and current, we thank you for your loyalty and patronage over the years. I used to joke about it being like the coolest basement you could ever visit to come borrow movies from, and I hope that we touched you as much as...no that doesn't sound right. Instead I'll steal from the master, Mr. Johnny Carson: "I can only tell you that it has been an honor and a privilege to come into your homes all these years and entertain you." That really does sum it up. We will miss you. Keep supporting independent video stores and businesses as long as you can. They really are what make a neighbourhood what it is.

From all of us, I bid you a very heartfelt good night.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Hello!!

You may have noticed, or soon will notice the large "For Lease" signs in our front windows. At first these may seem like cause for alarm, but we assure you WE ARE NOT CLOSING DOWN THE STORE.

We moved into our current location a few years back, but now find we can no longer sustain the shop where we are. We are looking to move to a new, medium size-ish location, somewhere in size between our original and our current one. And yes, we definitely want to stay close, as close to where we are now as possible.

As we have to wait for someone new to take over our current location until we can end our current lease, we have no time frame, nor do we have a new location chosen. And unlike the last time we moved, we are not being coy. We do not know yet.

So, to recap:

1) Scary-looking signs
2) Not closing the store
3) Looking to move to a better location for us all to enjoy in 2011
4) Have no way right now to know where or when, so keep on keepin' on

But mostly, and with love:

And we're back!

Well, we never went away, just a certain amount of laziness and other stuff/things/(insert lame excuse here).

Anyways.

Here are some of this week's New Releases... and we will also soon add a 'best of the rest' from the last few weeks.

Hopefully you'll see something you like. Come on by. We love you. 'sTruth.
